Spiritual Review: The Believer, a drama on DVD

Rating: 4.5 Hearts - Excellent

Okay, okay. So I'm a big fan of Ryan Gosling. In fact, My main reason for viewing the believer is because I wanted to see all the work of Gosling. When I noticed that the believer has won the Grand Jury Prize at the Festival Sundance Film, which has sealed the case, and I am even more pleased with the prosect to see. Henry Bean co-wrote and directed The Believer in 2001, which is loosely based on the true story of Daniel Burros. Back in the 1960s Burros became a member of the American Nazi Party and leader of the Klu Klux Klan, but he shot and killed himself after a reporter from New York Times revealed his Jewish heritage.

The Believer uses anti-Semitism to explore love and hate and to show how love and hate get all confused based on the fundamental beliefs about God. It also shows how our belief in God plays a direct role in determining our life and our experience of death. Bean executive director The Believer with the theme of the biblical story of Abraham. The story is told from the perspective of Daniel Balint, 20 neo-Nazi who denies something his Jewish roots and speaks without stops his desire to kill a Jew. We see Daniel intimidating and torturing a Jewish man gentle and bookish. We hear rave about how we should hate Jews because they are Jews. We are looking to join an anti-Semitic fascist underground group terrorized Jews and Daniel finally gets into a heap of trouble. Daniel has a Jewish friend who wants to help. She said: "I do not care about the truth, I care about you. "She's saying Daniel she values most mundane facts that values, morality or social biblical truths. This is the central message of the film and node. The love we have in our hearts is the only true religion irrefutable. This is the truth that can not be argued or denied. Daniel feels also this love in his heart, and it makes him a very confused and conflicted person.

Inspiration
Daniel was asked to be a recruiter / spokesperson for the fascist group, he joined, but he gets fired when he starts talking about how best how to get rid of the Jews is to love them. Daniel chooses deliberately and courageously self-sacrifice. Like Jesus, the enlightened Jew, Daniel sacrifice oneself for love for others and for the love of God. After the death of Daniel, we meet again. He is back in his school, Hebrew, running a flight of stairs after another, always seeking something for God, meaning, glory and enlightenment. But there nothing, nothing but endless search. Daniel is learning what we all need to learn. The self-sacrifice is meaningless. Death is empty. God is there. And the example of enlightenment taught by Jesus needs to be reinterpreted, without the notion of sacrifice.

Daniel teen does not offer a convincing and credible performance. Fortunately, there are only a handful of scenes with him, and what we remember is the, disturbing performance multi-dimensional rendering by Ryan Gosling. Furthermore, The plot believer feels sometimes above and artificial. However, the believer is amazing because it makes you think about whether the ideas we learn about God, the same that have been transmitted generation after generation, for two millennia, are kept.
